The Commission has recently become aware of correspondence in relation to the above entity.
The above entity claims, within the correspondence, to have an address at 12-14 Athol Street, Douglas, Isle of Man, IM1 1LU. Following research carried out by the Commission we can state that such a claim is false.
The above entity has no genuine presence or connection with such address. The above entity is not a company incorporated within the jurisdiction of the Isle of Man. It is not registered as a foreign company having established a place of business on the Isle of Man. It is not registered as a business name on the Isle of Man.
Enquiries by the Commission have revealed that the above entity is not known to the Isle of Man Law Society.

The above entity is not licensed by the Commission to undertake any regulated activities in, on or from the Isle of Man.

The Commission has established no association between this entity and any genuine Isle of Man companies.
The Commission has established no genuine links between this entity and the Isle of Man.
The correspondence seen by the Commission gives telephone and fax numbers to contact the above entity. None of the numbers given relate to lines on the Isle of Man.
Under the circumstances, the Commission would strongly urge persons considering dealing with this entity to exercise the greatest possible caution before proceeding, bearing in mind the contents of this public notice.

Any persons who have paid funds away to or given personal information to the above entity should consider seeking advice from their local Police Fraud Unit without delay.

Since publishing the above Public Warning on 2 July 2007 the Commission has received further correspondence which is very similar to the above but the name of the entity is now shown as Humphrey & Co Lawyers (not Humphreys & Co Lawyers)
The comments contained within the original part of this Public Warning apply equally to this latter correspondence.
UPDATE: 1 November 2007
Since publishing the Public Warnings dated 2 July 2007 and 12 September 2007, the Commission has now been made aware of a genuine entity by the name of “Humphreys & Co”.
The genuine Humphreys & Co is a firm of solicitors based in Bristol in the United Kingdom. Their address is 14 King Street, Bristol, BS1 4EF. Their website and further contact details can be found at www.humphreys.co.uk.
E-mails and correspondence using the name of the genuine Humphreys & Co have been and are being sent out fraudulently by persons unknown, without the knowledge or authority of the genuine Humphreys & Co, since at least as early as September 2004.
The Commission categorically states that the genuine Humphreys & Co has no link whatsoever to the correspondence referred to in the Public Warnings dated 2 July 2007 and 12 September 2007.
