Huko Finance / Mrs Amelia Tuiwai

This notice is issued by the Financial Supervision Commission (“the Commission”) in accordance with the powers conferred upon it under Section 22 of the Financial Supervision Act 1988.

 

The Commission has recently become aware that members of the Public have received an email purporting to have been sent by a Mrs Amelia Tuiwai who claims to be the Manager of an entity called Huko Finance. Within the emails it is claimed that Huko Finance is in the Isle of Man and that it and Mrs Amelia Tuiwai have an address of 16, Finch Road, Douglas, Isle of Man IM1 3PX. Telephone/fax numbers of 08712519662 and 447944104794 are quoted within in the emails for Mrs Amelia Tuiwai and Huko Finance. The emails allege that Huko Finance is seeking “representatives who can transact business with approved funds”. The emails seek a number of personal details from the recipient.

Research undertaken by the Commission has revealed that the above entity and person are not known to, or associated with, the genuine occupants of 16, Finch Road, Douglas.

The aforementioned telephone/fax numbers are not based on the Isle of Man.

The above entity is not a company incorporated within the jurisdiction of the Isle of Man. It is not registered as a foreign company having established a place of business on the Isle of Man. It is not registered as a business name on the Isle of Man.

The above entity is not licensed by us to undertake any regulated activity in, on or from the Isle of Man.

Under the circumstances, the Commission would strongly urge persons in receipt of the aforementioned emails to exercise the greatest possible caution before responding, bearing in mind the contents of this public notice.

Any persons who have supplied personal information or paid funds away in response to the aforementioned emails should consider contacting their local Police Fraud Unit for advice, without delay.
